What is the difference between coal tar and Neutar®?
The FDA recognizes coal tar to be a safe and effective ingredient for controlling the itching and flaking associated with the dandruff, scalp psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. For years, people were reluctant to use shampoos containing coal tar because of its strong smell. Fortunately, Neutrogena patented a way to refine coal tar to remove the impurities that give coal tar its strong scent.
